The gorgeous desert golden hour light in Palm Springs is something that constantly takes our breath away. So needless to say we continue to get excited every time an amazing wedding photographer, wedding planner or stylish bride sends us photographs from a recent shoot in the area. This week was a complete treat as the insanely talented Jasmine Fitzwilliam over at Let’s Frolic Together shared with our team a recent engagement session in Palm Springs that really is all the heart eyes. This wedding photographer based in Southern California was able to capture authentic smiles, good times and all that desert landscape that makes us filled with joy. Below are some of the photographs of Megan and Brandon’s engagement session captured by Let’s Frolic Together as well as some behind-the-scenes commentary from the photographer!
Since we’re based in San Diego we are fortunate to shoot in the Palm Springs and Joshua Tree area a bunch. I think there are incredible and strange wonders to be found in the desert, and in this case it’s the combination of the natural and empty desert vibe with its rock formations and valleys of wonder paired with the interesting and man-made elements that give it a bit of pizzazz, from the rad paintings on rock to the wind turbines to junkyards.
Well, I’m desert-obsessed in general, so for me the thing that always wins my heart is that there is a dreamy magical and intangible desert haze in the air, something that heightens the colors and vibe, that adds a magic that’s really otherworldly in this vast and empty open-road environment. This is what draws me back time and time again to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs.
They’re such an effortlessly babely pair and since she’s a fashion blogger, she was already quite at home on camera! He claimed to be awkward but was a total natural! I think something that actually helped release tension is that it was a wildly windy day (hence all those turbines), and initially Megan was really concerned about it being disruptive to their session… but I think it actually helped them just let go, and roll with the punches. The wind ultimately added so much amazingness in candid, real fun moments!
The best moment from this colorful boho engagement session probably was the wind! I love the unpredictable ways it kept us laughing. It means that the ‘perfect’ and fussy’ stuff gets thrown out the window, and instead you just embrace it and let it drive things which is how I prefer to work. My style is relaxed, candid, and real. So many great moments came out of reacting to that unique environmental element. I also loved the couple’s sassy ways, and a particular fave moment was Megan’s butt-squeezing while Brandon carried her down the road!

I’m based in san Diego and serve all of southern California! I’m originally from Montreal, Canada, so I grew up angry at winter, I speak French fluently and poutine is a meal mainstay! I moved to California over ten years ago as a lark and it turned out to be the place I belong. I spend a ton of time in the desert because it’s really my happy place, I find it inspiring and centering so very much. I’ve been shooting weddings for almost ten years and I adore it because it’s all about serving real people experiencing real emotions. I was working in advertising and design for many years where I served corporations and there was so little authenticity to it, so much smoke and mirrors. Shifting to working directly with amazing humans on a day so significant and meaningful for both them and their communities was transformative to my whole world, giving me more purpose and more connection to others. I believe so heartily in connection and adventure, and I love helping amazing people capture theirs!
