Palm Springs Styled Engagement

When the talented Palm Spring wedding photographer Brianna Broyles tagged us on Instagram in a recent edgy black and yellow stylized shoot we instantly fell in love with the images. Brianna is constantly producing awesome photography so that was not surprising. What was surprising was how she and a team of local creatives came up with an awesome vision for a stylized photo shoot and executed it flawlessly. After checking out the entire gallery of photos we are confident that this black and yellow stylized shoot will give inspiration to any engaged couples wanting to plan something unique and cool for their engagement session. Heck maybe even a bride and groom planning a wedding in Palm Springs can also find inspiration in the beautiful floral blends and use of color during the stylized shoot. Since this entire shoot and vision was Brianna’s we will let her tell you more about the photo shoot and the inspiration behind it all! Take it away Brianna!

Was This Your First Stylized Shoot In Palm Springs

This was not my first time shooting at The Ace Hotel but before beginning the shoot I knew that I wanted to photograph different areas at the wedding venue. I didn’t want the cliche backgrounds so I picked nooks and corners that were different but still were cohesive with our shoot and brought the eccentric, edgy vibe from the Ace. And the Ace Hotel was a great spot for this edgy black and yellow stylized shoot because there is so much variation and spunk to the property. They have a great balance of clean and modern scenery while bringing pops of fun desert inspiration like cactus, unique boho touches with their decor and the overall playfulness of brick, wood and metal elements in their architecture. It is the perfect representation of Palm Springs and the modern playful vibe of the desert.

What Was The Inspiration For This Shoot?

When we started planning this styled engagement shoot our team knew that we wanted to create something different. After doing some research the idea of something moody and edgy was exactly what we wanted and the pop of yellow florals was the the perfect contrast we were looking for. We actually had two florists involved in this shoot to create the yellow bouquet for a pop of color and the neutral purples/gray bouquet and the both paired perfectly with our locations. (P.S. Do you spy an artichoke in the neutral bouquet?)

Favorite Thing About Palm Springs

My favorite thing about shooting here in Palm Springs is that the desert truly is the perfect canvas for any style of wedding, engagement or styled shoot. The sunsets are golden perfection and never get old. Whether it’s moody, edgy, bohemian, spring florals, or any concept, Palm Springs is the perfect backdrop for photography. There are so many incredible wedding venues in Palm Springs that enhance individual themes and the Ace Hotel is the ultimate millennial hot spot which paired perfectly for this shoot and enhanced the edgy vibes we wanted to show.

The Couple

I’ve been friends with Marilyn for a little while and she and her boyfriend are the walking description of what we were looking for. They naturally are an edgy and hip couple and they have the personality that I knew would embody our concept perfectly. They aren’t super giggly people but have this sophisticated look to them that brought the shoot to life. For the most part I wanted to bring out a romantic city playfulness between the two of them and I think they did that on their own better than I could have imagined.

Favorite Moment From The Shoot

My favorite moment from the styled shoot was having our tribe of vendors take over the Ace Hotel and Palm Springs and how perfectly we all worked together. Each vendor is amazing at what they do, everyone followed along for the shoot and made it so memorable and Marilyn and Ray really enjoyed themselves and had fun. Other memorable moments were when we walked into the Amigo Room and the grabbed drinks and everyone stared at all 10 of us wondering what the heck was going on, when Marilyn fell down the stairs at the Ace and we all had mini heart attacks hoping she was okay, and when Marilyn and Ray ran across Gene Autry (the desert) and we were all hoping not to get run over by cars driving by wondering what the heck was going on.

Every single Palm Springs wedding vendor involved in this edgy black and yellow stylized shoot was absolutely incredible at what they do. This was an amazing team of pros that I would highly recommend to any bride getting married in Palm Springs!

About The Palm Springs Wedding Photographer

Brianna Broyles

Shucks, where do I begin? I shot my first wedding at 16 years old and am about to turn 21. I went full time as a wedding + lifestyle photographer about 6 months ago. I’m currently based out of Palm Springs, CA but provide photo services to all of Southern California …and anywhere in the world! I’m a born and raised desert girl so Palm Springs has always been home and I have fallen in love with working specifically with couples for engagements and weddings. It is such a privilege that I get to “work” with so many beautiful couples and capturing their true emotion, joy, happiness and personality during such an exciting time of life.
